Department of Pharmacology
As a branch of medicine, pharmacology deals with the investigation, identification and characterization of drugs. Moreover, pharmacology focuses on designing various drugs and explicating the mechanism of their action in distinct molecular, cellular, and histological contexts. Furthermore, signaling, cellular relationships, drug interactions and therapeutical use of drugs are dealt with in pharmacology. Pharmacology comprises two major branches, i.e. pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics. Pharmacodynamics is concerned with the effect of drugs and the mechanism of their actions, while pharmacokinetics deals with absorption, distribution and elimination of drugs.
