As one of the oldest departments established at LUMS, Department of Physiology and Pharmacology initiated its work in 1993, roughly simultaneously with the establishment of the School of Medicine. Initially, the educational activity of this department was limited to the students of the School of Medicine and the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Nonetheless, the establishment of new schools at LUMS called for the extension of our work. Currently, the faculty members of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology teach students in the entire schools of LUMS. The PhD by research program of physiology was inaugurated in 2013 recruiting two students, and the MSc program of the same major was established in 2014 recruiting 4 students. Two professors, an associate professor, and five assistant professors comprise the faculty members of this department.
